One Month!

Baby boy,

Today you are a month old!  And my how you've grown!  You have amazed us all with how big you've gotten in just a few short weeks.  You are already 11 pounds and 2 ounces!  After losing a few ounces after birth you've gained and then some.  Probably because you eat all.the.time.  Between meals you even snack.  And I caught you eyeing my burger and fries the other day.    You almost immediately grew out of your newborn clothes and diapers, most of the newborn clothes I got you didn't even fit to start with.  Just 2 weeks in we had to switch to the size 1 diaper.  While I spent a full year and a half worrying that your sister wasn't eating enough and was so tiny, I have already asked your doctor if you are eating too much!  Guess a mom never stops worrying.

You are so smiley and even giggled once.  Whenever someone talks to you your face lights up with a smile and you are mesmerized.

Just like Ella, you hold you head up already and very rarely lay on anyone's shoulder.  You are too busy trying to look around at your new world.  And just like E you are constantly trying to stand up too.  It makes holding you a challenge to say the least...two hands are required!  You can already roll over which is absolutely crazy!!  I was giving E a bath when your Dad came in and said, "Your son just rolled over!"  I asked if maybe you just accidentally rolled over, like you were fussy and throwing yourself around.  He said, nope, you just kicked and pushed until your rolled over.  And just about anytime we lay you flat on your tummy you start trying to roll over.

Apparently your Dad and I are destined to have bad nappers but great night time sleepers.  You have already had a couple nights with 4-5 hour stretches of sleep.  I'm starting to wonder if you sleep so well at night because you cat nap all day.  Usually we get one 2-3 hour nap, but most are 30-45 minutes.  You started that as soon as we brought you home!  You are very alert and have to sleep in your dark room with white noise so you can focus on sleep.  Even though I have to position you just right because you must think the drapes are magic.  I don't know if it's the pattern or the light that barely streams through but you could stare at them for hours.

Ella loves you so much and wants to love on you all the time.  She gives kisses and hugs and worries when you cry.  She is always asking if you are all right.  I have been so surprised with how well she has done, given how awful she was when I was pregnant with you.

I am so thankful you are in our lives.  It's easy to forget how much love and pride you feel as a parent when your little one looks at you and smiles.  As hard as it is to have two kiddos I wouldn't trade it for the world.  But really, I can't wait to dress you and your sister in your coordinating outfits!!  Converse and Lacoste and Polo oh my!

We love you,
Mom and Dad
